Sea Glass, The Color Series
In this series we will discuss the colors of sea glass
Let's begin with the rarest colors
Red Orange and Yellow
The presence of the chemical compound gold chloride is necessary for the production of these colors. The amount dictates the shade which makes the resulting consistency difficult to achieve. Subsequently, these colors have never been massed produced in the United States.
Each of these very rare colors
-red, orange, yellow-
is expensive to produce, and so very few pieces of sea glass in these colors are found.
We guesstimate that these colors are found 1 in 10,000
Some of the sources for these colors are
Tableware, Navigation lights, Ornamental Objects, Car Tail lights, Poison Bottles
Stayed tuned for our next Sea Glass Blog when we will continue discussing the many colors of sea glass.
